Certified Service Professional
I am a lifelong boater with over 50 years of professional and personal boating experience. I owned my first boat at age 13 (appropriately a 13’ Boston Whaler with a 25 HP 2 stroke outboard) and along the way I have owned more than a dozen boats and have captained boats up to 72’. For most of my life I was primarily a powerboater, I also raced sailboats competitively.
For the past four years I was the Service Manager at one of the largest independently owned boat dealerships in Southwest Florida where we were consistently ranked as the largest Robalo dealer in the world and a top Grady White dealership. In that role I advised hundreds of customers on their boat repair and fit up needs. I acted as captain to pick up or deliver customer boats and inspected all new boats sold through the dealership to take care of factory defects (we sold several hundred new boats each year). Prior to that position, I worked at MarineMax. Earlier in my career I built and managed a 200+ boat marina North of Boston. Along the way I received certifications from boat and engine manufacturers as well as becoming a Certified Electronics Technician.
I have amassed a large and close network of service providers for virtually every marine trade. Besides my own experience and knowledge, I am continually researching what is new and different in the marine industry including annually attending IBEX, The International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition & Conference (North America’s largest technical trade event for the marine industry). As a professional in the industry, I have access to all the trade information and publications that retail customers aren’t privy to.
I started Boat Resource Advisors after dealing with hundreds of boat owners who were looking for solutions and not finding them through their own research efforts or established boat dealerships. While the internet provides countless answers, I provide you with the one answer that counts, saving you both time and money. For example, when I moved to Southwest Florida, I struggled to find the right contractor to build the dock and lifts behind my house. My goal is to help expedite projects like this for others. Additionally, I suffered the further challenge that I was building my Florida home while still living in New England (where I moved from) and didn’t have anyone local to oversee the work. One of the services that we now provide is local onsite representation for clients while work is being done on their boat or dock when they are out of town.
